Jashodaben is a retired Indian teacher. She is the estranged wife of the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Born

Jashodaben was born as Jashodaben Chimanlal in 1952 in Brahmanwada, Bombay State, presently known as Gujarat. when she lost her mother She was two years old. She has two brothers. Jashodaben currently lives with her brother and sister-in-law in Unjha, Gujarat. She belongs to the OBC(Modh Ghanchi) Caste of Gujarat.

Jashodaben was engaged to Narendra Modi when she was three years old. She got married to Narendra Modi at the age of 11 as per the family customs in 1968. They started living together when she was 16, and Narendra Modi turned 18 years old in 1968.

Career

Jashodaben completed her SSC in 1974 after her Separation from her husband. She focused on her Career by pursuing teacher’s training and finished it in 1976. She worked as a teacher in a primary school in the Banaskantha District of Gujarat from 1978 to 1990.
Later on, she retired from her Job after teaching for 12 years. then she moved to Rajasona Village. She earns a Government pension of INR 14,000 monthly and leads a secluded life.
She kept herself busy in social activities and stayed out of politics.

Marriage

After her marriage, she left her studies and came on to live with Narendra Modi. She once stated in an interview that Modi wanted her to complete her tasks and join the school.

They were together for three months when Narendra Modi discontinued living with her and started traveling to the Himalayas to practice Sannyasa.

After two years of separation from Narendra Modi, Jashodaben was grief-stricken when she lost her father.
After three years of Sannyasa, Narendra Modi returned home to leave for work with his uncle going Jashodaben.

During this time, she focused on completing her Education. They split after three years into this marriage.

Controversy

Jashodaben came into the limelight when Narendra Modi mentioned her as his wife in an affidavit when he was Contesting for the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from Vadodara.
In an interview, she stated that she wishes all the success for him even when she is not in contact with him.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Jashodaben pledged she wouldn’t eat anything until Narendra Modi becomes the Prime minister. and She was ecstatic when he was elected as prime minister in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

She is a devoted social worker and a huge supporter of the BJP. and She was also not invited to the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister.

During a protest at Azad Maidan against the demolition of the Slums, she participated in the peaceful protest.
