Career:

Subham Kumar completed his early education at Vidya Vihar Residential School in Purnia. After that, he attended Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Bokaro for his 12th grade. Following his schooling, he moved to Mumbai and pursued a degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Mumbai.

After obtaining his engineering degree from IIT Mumbai, Shubham Kumar appeared for the Civil Services Examination for the first time in 2018 but couldn’t succeed.

However, he didn’t lose hope and attempted the UPSC exam again in 2019, securing a rank of 290. He was selected for the Indian Defence Accounts Service and started his training in Pune.

In 2020, Shubham Kumar appeared for the exam with Anthropology as his optional subject and achieved the first rank in the country.

Family/Relationships:

Shubham Kumar’s father, Shri Devanand Singh, is currently working as a manager at Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank. His mother’s name is Poonam Devi, who is a homemaker. During an interview with “Aaj Tak,” Shubham mentioned that his family played a significant role in keeping him motivated during his studies. Shubham Kumar’s sister is a Scientific Officer in Indore, and she also provided continuous encouragement during his academic journey.

Shubham Kumar, the All India topper in the UPSC exam from Bihar, is currently facing trouble with numerous fake accounts being created in his name on social media platforms. Despite having only around three thousand followers on his genuine Twitter account (@SHUBHAMKR_IAS), there are several fake accounts bearing his name with a significantly higher number of followers.

Shubham Kumar clarified that he is not present on Facebook or YouTube, but some individuals have taken it upon themselves to create pages and accounts using his name to gain publicity.

He emphasized that his only authentic account is @SHUBHAMKR_IAS, and all other accounts with his name are fake.
