Nikhil Gowda Biography in Details
Nikhil Gowda is an Indian actor who has predominantly worked in Telugu and Kannada industries. He is also known as Nikhil Kumaraswamy. He is the son of former Karnataka chief minister H. D Kumaraswamy and grandson of former Indian Prime minister, H.D Deve Gowda.
Born
Nikhil Gowda Kumaraswamy was born on 22nd January 1990 in Bangalore, K Karnataka, India. He belongs to an affluent family of politicians in Bangalore. After completing his schooling, he enrolled in a pre-university course. But left the course midway and completed his bachelor’s through correspondence.
He comes from the Hindu family of Vokkaliga Caste. His mother, Anitha Kumaraswamy, is a film producer and politician.
He has a step-sister named Shamika Kumaraswamy. Radhika Kumaraswamy is his step-mother.
Nikhil Gowda Career
He started his career as an actor. He made his acting debut in 2016 with Kannada- Telugu bilingual film ‘Jaguar.’ He played the role of Krishna in the movie, which earned him an award as the Best debutant Kannada.
In 2018 he appeared in “Seetharama Kalyana,” a Kannada film. He then went on to play the role of Abhimanyu in the Kannada film Kurukshetra in 2019.
It was only a matter of time when he contested as a JDS candidate in the 2019 Lok sabha elections and made his political debut. He examined the polls from the Mandya district. However, he lost to Suman Latha Ambareesh with a margin of 128,725 votes.
During the time of elections, some people troll him with the title ‘Nikhil Ellidiyappa.’ After the results, the name appeared on two Google locations. But later on, it was removed from Google Maps by the authorities.
Despite coming from an influential political family. The Entertainment industry inspired him.
Controversies
- On October 2,006, N Nikhil Gowda and his two friends Manufacturer Sharma and Rahul Mahajan, Smashed beer bottles at Hotel Empire International. When they were denied a meal by the hotel staff at 3.30 am.
- Later on, the hotelier filed a complaint saying unknown persons ransacked his premises and assaulted his beliefs. Eventually, Deve Gowda tried to defend his grandson by spinning different stories. But ultimately, then the home minister of Karnataka, M. P. Prakash, dismissed the incident as “Juvenile Delinquency.” He also indicated action against the hotel management for staying beyond the permitted time.
- A Kannada daily published an article based on how intoxicated Nikhil created a stir in his grandfather’s place by stating that because of him, he failed in his political career. However, an FIR was registered by the Bangalore police against the editor of the daily paper for publishing fictitious characters.

- Nikhil got engaged to Swathi Gowda, the eldest daughter of KCN Mohan, on 20th May 2015. Later on, they canceled the engagement stating a misunderstanding between the two of them.
- He was also rumored to be in a relationship with Kannada actress Rachita ram.
- On 10th February 2020, Nikhil got engaged to Revathi, the granddaughter of former housing minister M. Krishnappa in a private ceremony.
