Major Gaurav Arya(Retd) is a public speaker and senior consulting Editor of Strategic affairs at Republic media Network. He is an ex-serviceman who served in the 17th Kumaon Regiment. Major Gaurav Arya was born in Delhi on 25th September 1972. He completed his graduation in History honors from St. Stephen college in Delhi in 1992. His father is an IPS Officer. Major Gaurav Arya belongs to a family of disciplined and patriotic members.
Gaurav Arya Career
Major Gaurav Arya was recruited as a Second lieutenant in the Indian Army in 1993 after passing the SSB Examination. He was listed as one of the servicemen in the 57th short service commission.
In those times, the tenure for recruits who joined through the Short Service Commission was five+five +four years. Major Gaurav Arya started his training at the Officer’s Training Academy Chennai under the Jessami Company administration.
After his training, he served with the 17th Kumaon Regiment in various operational areas, including Kashmir. In 1996, Major Gaurav Arya was posted at the International border in the tribal place of Lahaul and Spiti area. He fell off from a hill and ended up getting buried under snow. Later on, he was rescued by his battalion. But the accident developed lung-related ailment in him.
After serving Indian Army Services for five years, Major Gaurav Arya retired from the Services in 1999 by opting for voluntary medical reasons.
After his retirement, Gaurav did an MBA in Marketing and sales. He then transitioned into the Corporate World. Gaurav worked at several administrative Positions in HCL, Wipro, Hutch(now Vodafone), Ernst & Young, Spice Retail Ltd, Smart group, and Sterea Infratech Ltd.
then he joined as a Senior Consulting Editor Of Strategic affairs at Republic media Network in March 2017. He used to accumulate his thoughts and knowledge and used to write on blogs related to the topics based on the national defense security of India.

Major Gaurav Arya got famous for his open letter to Burhan Wani and his Media debut. When he wrote an article for Swarajya in July 2016 based on that article which went viral overnight. The open letter to Burhan Wani, a Kashmiri terrorist, was encountered by the Indian Armed Forces a few days back. In that letter, he wrote about the situation in Kashmir where the separatism movements have brought nothing to the Kashmiri people. He also described in his article how separatists in Kashmir are feeding on young Kashmiri men’s blood and how they send these young Kashmiris like Burhan Wani to face the army for their very own schedule.
